Living in the Real World

The Living in the Real World app was created by the Eastern Regional Libraries and Monash Library Service teams to help Australians develop practical new skills. Following on from 40+ community events that were attended by around 500 people, this app details some of the key components of the sessions and outlines how to access various other learning materials.

Topics explored include:

  • Attaining Australian Citizenship
  • Centrelink & myGov Made Easy
  • Energy Saving Ideas
  • Financial Services Training
  • Internet Safety Basics
  • Job Ready Skills
  • Scam Awareness

The app and the series of events that led to it is a joint presentation by Monash Public Library Service and Eastern Regional Libraries Corporation. Educational sessions were available across City of Monash, Knox City Council, Maroondah Council and Yarra Ranges Council.

The Living in the Real World program was part of the Adult Literacy Innovation Grant program funded by the State Library of Victoria and the Public Libraries Victoria Network.
