Your Library Limited and Monkey Baa Theatre Company are thrilled to announce a new partnership that will bring storytelling, literacy, and live performance to communities across Victoria and beyond.

Your Library Limited is proud to partner with Monkey Baa Theatre Company to deliver Theatre Unlimited—a social impact initiative designed to remove barriers and increase access to live theatre for young people. This partnership aims to reach children and young people across the Your Library network who may otherwise miss out on the opportunity to experience high-quality, professional theatre.

The partnership celebrates storytelling, literacy and live performance, and by working together, we are ensuring that more young people across Victoria have a front-row seat to creativity.

Cr Linda Hancock, Chair of Your Library Ltd Board, and Dr. Karina Lamb, CEO, jointly announced the partnership, emphasising its significance for community engagement and access to the arts.

“Connecting theatre and our library service, is a new and exciting experience. We are proud to be involved in this partnership.” said Cr Hancock.

Dr. Lamb added, “This partnership connects literature and live performance in a way that inspires lifelong learning. Together with Monkey Baa, we’re introducing new audiences to the magic of theatre while reinforcing the importance of storytelling in literacy”.

Kevin du Preez, Executive Director of Monkey Baa Theatre Company, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration:
“Engaging young people through theatre and storytelling is at the heart of what we do. Partnering with Your Library allows us to share the transformative power of the performing arts with even more communities.”

Your Library and Monkey Baa will collaborate on workshops, performances, and community events while also working together on funding opportunities and joint marketing initiatives. Library members will gain access to exclusive events, strengthening the connection between libraries and the arts.

Together, Your Library and Monkey Baa Theatre Company are championing literacy, creativity, and community connection—ensuring that the art of storytelling continues to inspire, educate, and engage audiences of all ages.

Monkey Baa will present Josephine Wants to Dance – A hilarious musical about self-discovery, ballet, hip-hop, and… a kangaroo at the Alexander Theatre (Monash University) between 11-12 April. Tickets available via: www.monash.edu/performing-arts-centres/event/josephine-wants-to-dance
