April comfort reads #StaffPicks

This book is a fun read which deals with the complexity of travelling with a parent as an adult.

Michelle Obama knows all about overcoming adversity and coming out the other side triumphant. Wonderful woman (her husband’s pretty impressive too!)

ERL have many health and wellbeing books that I turn to when I seek pearls of wisdom to guide me through difficult times. 'Kindfulness' examines being mindfully kind and compassionate to yourself. I particularly enjoyed the little quotes throughout the book, such as this one by J K Rowling: “We do not need magic to change the world, we carry all the power we need inside ourselves already. We have the power to imagine better.
The 'better' I imagine, is smiling at strangers you meet, saying thank you to those who serve us, and being thankful for our blessings.

If you enjoy French food, you'll love this book! Felicity is a food and wine specialist and has written many cookbooks. She is also an enthusiastic bike rider and has combined all her loves in this book by cycling around France to her favourite destinations, finding classic French cuisine along the way. There are many amusing incidents that happen throughout her journey. I really enjoyed this feel-good read and I've discovered places I need to visit!

This kept me up to 2am, finishing it. Great ending!

The writing has the ability to transport you to another place and time. The story always has me completely absorbed in Sayuri’s world, no matter how many times I’ve re-read it!
